Personal care

Personal care includes assistance and supervision with everyday personal living duties such as personal hygiene and toileting, as well as clothing and grooming. Your care plan will describe your likes and dislikes, the hygiene or beauty items you wish to use, and what – and who – you feel most comfortable with as part of getting to know you as a person. Detailed instructions for particular chores, such as shaving and diabetic foot care, will always be included in your assistance plan. Each caregiver has received extensive training in providing personal care in a discreet and polite manner. They go through training to understand how to maintain your dignity and freedom at all times. Despite the fact that carers are trained to offer all elements of personal care, you may choose to do certain things for yourself. A skilled caregiver will always give you space when you need it and will work to increase your independence wherever possible.
